About Matane

Matane is a city in Quebec’s Bas-Saint-Laurent region on the south shore of the St. Lawrence estuary, at the mouth of the Matane River. A ferry to Baie-Comeau and Godbout, shrimp fishing heritage, and a windswept estuary waterfront define the place. Highway 132 follows the coast through the city. About 14,000 people live in Matane.
